The type of...Studies like this are so frustrating. The type of meat eaters the vegetarians are held up against are likely those on a Standard American Diet, which of course is very unhealthy and often leads to obesity. It is possible to eat meat and stay at a healthy weight. I used to be vegan and I was miserable even though I stayed away from vegan junk food. I eat mostly locally raised foods now, meat once or twice a week and lots of fruits and vegetables and I feel alot better.
